The Role:
Reporting to the Health Safety and Training (HST) Manager, the Health and Safety Advisor will support the HSEC HST Manager and Mine Manager to ensure all mining and related activities are carried out in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and Mining and Quarrying Operations Regulations. You will also be responsible for the coordination and continuous improvement of our Health and Safety Management System.
This position promotes, coordinates, and facilitates site health and safety activities, processes, education, and training to improve occupational health, safety and emergency preparedness at Stockton to support the achievement of a Zero Harm Culture at Stockton Mine.
Additionally, this position includes the evaluating and reporting on the effectiveness of site occupational health and safety activities, monitoring safe handling of materials/substances and management of OHS system standards/procedures and the monitoring and evaluation of mine contractors and their obligations to comply with the statutory and company requirements.
The ideal applicant will have experience in a similar position and will have a formal qualification in Health and Safety or be willing to study towards one.
This is a Full-Time role, working Monday to Friday, 8.75 hours per day, 43.75 hours per week. The work location for this role is at the Stockton Mine Site.
To be successful in the role you will have:
- New Zealand Working Rights are essential.
- A tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or extensive role experience in Health and Safety
- Certification in Incident Investigation and Occupational First Aid
- Thorough understanding and proven application of OHS Legislation
- Experience in Risk Management Practice
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong commitment to safety
